ROBERT WAYNE AILTS, age 74, of Worthington, died Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington. He was born March 13, 1941, in Rushmore to parents Clarence and Tena (Hieronimus) Ailts. Bob grew up in Rushmore and he attended Rushmore School and Worthington High School. Bob served in the Army Reserves. He worked for Chicago Northwestern Railroad and Rickbeil's. In 1968, Bob began working for the State of Minnesota Highway Department as a maintenance worker. Bob retired in March of 2001.
Bob was united in marriage to Eunice Irene Elsing on September 17, 1965, at the Eastfriesland Presbyterian Church in Rushmore.  After their marriage, the couple lived in Rushmore and moved to Worthington in April of 1968 where they continued to live.
He was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore, serving as a trustee and deacon. He was also a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a supporter of the Local Chapter of Pheasants Forever.
Some of Bob's hobbies included hunting, gun collecting, and attending gun shows. He enjoyed woodworking, camping and restoring his Jeep and 1957 Chevy pickup.  He could fix anything and never threw anything away. Bob loved spending time with his grandsons and nieces and nephews, trying to teach them life lessons. Bob also enjoyed drinking coffee and hunting with his friends.
Bob is survived by his wife, Eunice Irene Ailts, Worthington; two daughters, Lori Beth (Ron) Glawe, Worthington; MN and Jolene Renee (Jeff) Smith, Sioux Falls SD; two grandchildren Ty and Jacob Smith; three sisters-in-laws, Lorraine Ailts, Worthington MN; June Ailts, Rushmore MN; and Faye Ailts, Worthington MN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Marvin, Raymond, Lester, and Burdell  Ailts.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Thursday at Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington.
The Funeral Service will be Friday at 10:30 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore with Pastor Jim Krapf officiating. Burial will be at the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Rushmore.
