Robert W Beck, age 81 of Worthington, MN died on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Sunset Hospice Cottage. He was born in Sioux Falls, SD on July 3, 1932 to Wesley and Esther (Lindblad) Beck. He shared his childhood in several homes with his parents and two brothers, Richard and Ronald.
On July 10, 1952, Bob and Ona Mae (Searles) were united in marriage. Together they shared much joy and love as they raised three daughters, Vicki, Bobbi and Juli. Ona died July 11, 1995.
Robert was a man of great character and courage. He loved Jesus, his family and his community. A few of his earthly accomplishments include being an Eagle Scout, founding member of the Morning Optimist Club in Sioux Falls, a driving force for the start of Boys Club of America in Sioux Falls, and board member of Dow Rummel Village. Robert felt a great responsibility to give and serve.
Bob was united in marriage to Donna Day on November 22, 1995. They made their home in Sioux Falls until moving to Worthington, MN, in 1999, where Donna continues to teach. As had always been Bob's practice, he joined a church (American Lutheran) and got busy in the community.
Diagnosed with cancer in 2009 may have curbed Bob's ability to participate fully in community organizations, but the disease could not stop the love he had for his family. From bi-annual Beck family reunions to the annual Thanksgiving family feasts in Papillion, NE, Robert brought his joy for living. The best description of Bob comes from his grandson, Andrew Wood, "To go down swinging is hard. To keep swinging for over 5 years, without complaining, while keeping optimism in your head and love in your heart is a feat of strength that will not be forgotten." Robert W Beck was loved and gave love…simple as that.
Bob was a great man and we are blessed for having shared in his life. Bob is survived by his wife, Donna Beck, Worthington, MN; daughters: Vicki Lynn (Dave) Wood, Sioux Falls, SD; Bobbi Jo (Randy) Ogle, Nevada, MO: and Juli Ann (Chris) Staab, Papillion, NE; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers: Richard (Sue) Beck and Ronald (Janell) Beck; many nieces, nephews and friends.

A time of fellowship will be from 3-7 pm Friday at Bob & Donna's home, 1040 Crailsheim Rd. Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. A memorial service will be 3 pm Saturday at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington. A private burial of cremains will be at a later date.
