ROBERT DeVRIES, age 81, of Worthington, died, Sunday, February 13, 2011 at his daughters home in Rochester, MN. He was born March 21, 1929 in rural Rushmore to parents Joseph and Susie (Harberts) DeVries. He attended rural school near Rushmore, MN. He served his nation during the Korean Conflict in the United States Navy. Robert was united in marriage to Alice McKinnon on September 5, 1953 in Centredale, Rhode Island. They lived in Coronado, CA; and later moved to Worthington. He was an engineer at Worthington Regional Hospital for 42 years. Robert was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren on the family farm. He also enjoyed hunting pheasants, polka music, bowling, playing softball and watching his grandchildren playing sports. He is survived by his children, Meredith (Bruce) Wright, Kearney, NE; Kevin DeVries, Colorado Springs, CO; Elene (Rick) Beam, Arvada, CO; Sheila (Bruce) Rudolph, Rochester, MN; 12 grandchildren, Jeremy, Amy, Tyler, Brittani, Arianna, Cole, Melissa, Ryan, John, Holly, Liah, Jordan and six great-grandchildren, Hayden, Alivia, Kayleen, Korbin, Brayden and Payton; sisters, Darlene (Joseph) Clark, Worthington and Betty Bohnart, Rushmore. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alice on September 2, 2007, and four brothers.
