Obituary

ROBERT "BOB" ALLAN KRUSE, age 87, of Worthington, died Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at his home. He was born March 1, 1938, in Dubuque, IA, to Marvin and Anna (Bajema) Kruse. He served his country in the United States Army.

Bob married Delores Johnson on December 30, 1957, in Reading. He attended Worthington Jr. College and was in the ROTC, he went on to attend boot camp in CO. The couple lived in Fitchburg, MA while Bob was in the military. They moved to Bemidji where Bob received his teaching degree. He got his first teaching job in Backus. They went on to Worthington where he worked at Cargill until they moved to West Point, MS where Bob was a professor at Mary Holmes Junior College. During their time in Mississippi, the family spent their summers living in Monterey, CA where Bob both attended classes & student taught marine biology at Stanford University. He then received his Master's Degree from Auburn University in West Lafayette, IN. They moved to Hopkinton, NH where Bob taught at New England College. Bob received many collegiate degrees and was a published author of college textbooks for topics he enjoyed. In 1972, the family made their final move back to Worthington and Bob returned to Cargill. He went on to manage Flower Lane and ended his working career as manager of the Northland Mall in Worthington.

He was a member of the Bethel Evangelical Presbyterian Church, in Reading, where his father (Reverend Marvin D. Kruse) was the first Pastor. Bob was also a member of the NRA. He enjoyed sailing, traveling to any coast, being a lifelong learner by reading textbooks and the Bible, NASCAR, retelling family history, maintaining his flowers, summer picnics and was an avid fan and shareholder of the Green Bay Packers.

Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Delores Kruse, Worthington; two sons, Keith Kruse, Worthington; and Brian (Lorrie) Kruse, Wausau, WI; two granddaughters, Haley (Max) Slater, Wilmont; and McKenzie (Jonathan) Swenson, Luverne; and five great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Brooks, Kollyns, Kaitlyn and Luke. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jim Kruse.

A private family service, with burial at sea, will take place at a later date with Dingmann Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Worthington.
