ROGER JAKE HIERONIMUS, age 79, of Adrian, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the Sanford Hospital in Luverne. He was born July 21, 1932, in Adrian, to Frank and Carrie (Boots) Hieronimus. Roger attended rural school near Adrian. He then began working for area farmers and did construction work. He entered the United States Air force in 1952 and served his country during the Korean Conflict before leaving the service in 1956.
Roger married Dorothy Moerke on February 7, 1953, in Hayward, CA. After returning from the service, the couple began farming in the Wilmont area in 1957. In 1995, they retired and moved to Adrian. The couple managed the Adrian Campground for seven years; and cleaned the United Methodist Church, in Adrian. He became a resident of the Adrian Country Living Cottage in October of 2011.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wilmont. He enjoyed tinkering around the garage; and John Deere tractors.
Roger is survived by his four children and their spouses, Pat & Jerry Jueneman, Hartford, SD; Wanda & Chess Woodbury, Spirit Lake, IA; Curt & Gail Hieronimus, Adrian; and Julie & Ed Munkel, Rushmore; seven grandchildren, Stacy (Paul), Cory (April), Sara (Darrel), Danny (Kassie), Kelly (Brady), Amber (Kyle), & Mathew; twelve great grandchildren; six brothers, Leonard (Lyla) Hieronimus, Wilmont; Wayne (Jeanette) Hieronimus, Adrian; LeRoy (Gail) Hieronimus, Fergus Falls; David (Marlene) Hieronimus, Adrian; Gary (Linda) Hieronimus, Adrian; and Frank Jr. (Jeannie) Hieronimus, Adrian; and six sisters, Louise O'Niel, Worthington; Carol Kern, Adrian; Barb (Bill) Parsons, New Port, WA; Judy (Leon) Schaffer, Fairmont; Linda Thomas, Vista, CA; and Joyce (Gary) Eickhoff, Marshall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy, on May 29, 2008; grandson, Adam Lowell Woodbury, in March of 2008; brother, Ed Hieronimus; sister, Evelyn Brace; father & mother-in-law, Hattie & Jerry Moerke; brother-in-law, William Moerke; and a sister-in-law, Betty Lerch.
Visitation will be from 3-6 pm Sunday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian; and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Monday at the First Presbyterian Church, in Wilmont, officiated by Rev. Keith Gallagher. Burial will be in the Summit Lake Cemetery in Reading.
