ROGER ALLEN REU, age 63, of Flandreau, SD, formerly of Luverne, died Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at the Sanford Hospice Cottage, in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born April 3, 1945, in Luverne, to Arlo and Minna (Hansen) Reu. Roger was baptized on April 29, 1945, at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Jasper. He was confirmed on May 17, 1959, at St. John Lutheran Church, in Luverne. He graduated from Luverne High School. After graduation, Roger joined the National Guard and served his country for over three years in active duty. Roger married Cathy Fenning on September 6, 1997, at the Little Brown Church, in Nashua, IA. After their marriage, the couple moved to the family farm west of Luverne. In 2005, they moved to Porter, where they owned & operated CR Miniature Horse Ranch. In August of 2007, they moved to Flandreau, SD. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church; the Beaver Valley Lutheran Church in Brandon, SD; the Northern Great Plains Chapter of the Singles in Agriculture; and the American Miniature Horse Registry. Roger enjoyed breeding, raising, training & showing miniature horses. His favorite saying was, ?Miniature horses are like potato chips, you can?t have just one? Roger is survived by his wife, Cathy Reu, Flandreau, SD; two children, Chris Proctor, Hills; and Cody Harr, Flandreau, SD; two brothers, Arvin (Bonnie) Reu, Luverne; and Wayne Reu, Japan; three sisters, Lois (Rollie) Stauffer, Des Moines, IA; Nancy (Ken) Janssen, Ames, IA; and Jolene (Tony) Redder, Luverne. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia Smedsrud; brother, Robert; an infant brother, Ronald; and an infant sister, Arlene.
