RONALD EDWIN HEIKES, age 57 of Parkston, SD, formerly of Magnolia, MN, died Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born on May 13, 1952, in Worthington, MN to parents Emmet and Helen (Bohnart) Heikes. He graduated from Magnolia High School in 1970. After his schooling he farmed with his father near Magnolia. On August 10, 1974 he married Gloria Jean Boelman at the Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth. After their marriage the couple farmed near Magnolia and Ash Creek. Ronald also worked at the elevator in Kanaranzi. In 1985, the family moved to Mitchell, SD where Ronald was employed at Trail King Industries as a lead welder until 2008. Ronald enjoyed the outdoors, especially when he could be hunting, fishing or gardening. He also cherished spending time with his family and adored his two grandchildren. Ronald was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings, watching them every Sunday. Ronald is survived by his mother, Helen Heikes, Luverne, MN; children Jeffrey (Doreen) Heikes, Sioux Falls, SD; Brian Heikes, Beresford, SD; and Melissa (Tyler) Artlip, Mandan, ND; two grandchildren Allison and Emmet Heikes, sisters Liela (Bill) Jackson, Mitchell, SD; and Sharon (Neil) Dohlman, Magnolia, MN and brother Gary (Sue) Heikes, Montevideo, MN. He was preceded in death by his father and his wife Gloria.
