RONALD F. VANDER STEEN, age 60, of Edgerton, died Friday, November 19, 2010, at the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Luverne. He was born August 15, 1950, in Luverne, to William and Elizabeth (Veenstra) Vander Steen. He attended public school in Leota; and graduated from Edgerton Public School. Ron married Beth Beckering on August 20, 1971, in Edgerton. After their marriage, the couple farmed southeast of Leota for thirty nine years. He was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church in Leota, where he had served as Deacon; and the Nobles County Pork Producers. Ron served on the Leota 4th of July Board; and the Murray County Relay For Life, where he was the 2010 Honorary Chairman. He enjoyed camping, woodworking, gardening, fishing and attending his children?s & grandchildren?s sporting activities. Ron is survived by his wife, Beth Vander Steen, rural Edgerton; three children, Rich (Jen) Vander Steen, Bulverde, TX; Deb (Kraig) Winzenburg, Danube; and Travis Vander Steen, Fargo, ND; five grandchildren, Paityn & Matt Vander Steen, and Alecia, Pam & Breana Winzenburg; and two sisters, Catherine & Minnine Vander Steen, Kentwood, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George; and an infant sister, Katie Vander Steen. Visitation will be from 2-4 pm Sunday at the Bethel Reformed Church in Leota. Funeral will be 10:30 am Monday at the Bethel Reformed Church in Leota. Burial will be in the Leota Community Cemetery. Dingmann Funeral Home, in Adrian, and the Leota Burial Association are in charge of arrangements.
