RONNAL "RON" M. McCLURE, age 69, of Luverne, died Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Society in Pipestone. He was born July 1, 1946, in Alexandria, to Homer and Mae (Johnson) McClure. He graduated from Magnolia High School in 1964. Ron continued his education at Alexandria Vocational School. He enlisted in the Minnesota Army National Guard where he served in the Luverne Unit.
Ron moved to Madelia and worked as a parts man after his education. He moved to Pipestone in 1969 and started his career as a Police Officer. Ron moved to Luverne in 1977 and joined the Rock County Sheriff Dept. as a Deputy. In 1990 Ron was elected Sheriff of Rock County where he served three terms. He retired from the Rock County Sheriff Dept. in 2002. After his retirement, he enjoyed helping his sons at McClure Construction.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne; past member of Optimist, Lions, Rotary, Eagles Club, Blandon Foundation all of Luverne. He was also a member of the Minnesota Sheriffs Association. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball, baseball, basketball, bowling, shooting pool, and riding motorcycles.
Ron is lovingly remembered by his wife Katie, Luverne; two sons, Chad (Christine) McClure, Luverne; Matt (Amanda) McClure, Luverne; stepchildren, Brian (Meegan) Miller, Luverne; Theresa Miller, Omaha, NE; Matt (Beth) King, Pierre, SD; mother, Mae McClure, Luverene; brother, Jerry (Danette) McClure, Magnolia; mother-in-law, Helen Woelber, Pipestone; numerous other relatives; and his dog Jack.
He was preceded in death by his father, Homer; brother, Jim; a sister, Penelope; and his grandparents. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne; and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Funeral will be 10 am Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, in Luverne, officiated by Pastor Jason Cunningham. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
