Obituary

ROSANNE MARY GOEBEL, age 96, of Worthington, died Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington. She was born June 18, 1928, in Hospers, IA, to Fred and Magdalena (Friedrich) Fischer. Rosanne attended St. Anthony Catholic School in Hospers, IA. After her schooling, she remained at home and did housekeeping for other families. On January 17, 1950, Rosanne was united in marriage to the love of her life, Firmin Cyprian Goebel, in Hospers, IA. After their marriage, the couple moved west of Worthington and farmed. They fattened cattle and farrowed and finished hogs. Upon retirement, Firmin and Rosanne moved into Worthington. In June of 2015, Rosanne moved to the Meadows in Worthington. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Chaired the Women's Guild where she was in charge of many funeral lunches. She served as a leader with the Okabena Bee's 4-H Club. Rosanne enjoyed mowing the lawn, growing flowers, and won the Flower Power Award from the Worthington Chamber of Commerce two years after moving to Worthington. Sewing, Crocheting, and quilting were among her other pasttimes. She made a quilt for each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, farming, driving tractors, fishing, bowling and playing cards. Rosanne is survived by her seven children, Ronald (Emily) Goebel, Goodhue, MN;  Daryl (Margaret) Goebel, Hastings, MN;  Merlin (Sherri) Goebel, Hartford, SD;  Randy Goebel, Magnolia, MN;  Dennis (Ann) Goebel, Nevis, MN;  Shirley (Dennis) Kurth, Spirit Lake, Iowa; Cindy Schaeffer, Savage, MN; sixteen grandchildren, Anita, Theresa (Sean), Ryan (Brandi), Scott (Jamie), Valerie (Mike), Sarah, Jared (Jenny), Travis (Lesli), Casie (Skip), Anthony (Lisa), Chelsea (Todd), Carrie (Tyler), Hanna (Jeremy), Brittany, Kyle, Anna; 21 great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Cadence, Owen, Finley, Lennon, Fletcher, Dylan, Jesse, Kelsey, Cloe, Hailey, Arayah, Logan, Ava, Riley, Kasyn, Levi, Carson, Zoey, Cade and Jase; 2 brothers, Harold (Ardell) Fischer, Fulda; and Jerome (Rita) Fischer, Hospers, IA; and a sister-in-law, Yvonne Fischer, Rock Valley, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Firmin on March 27, 2015; daughter-in-law, Joan Goebel; 2 brothers, John (Catherine) Fischer; and Gerald Fischer; and a sister, Christine (Donald) Sauer.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, with parish prayers at 4 pm, Tuesday, April 22 at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. Visitation also one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 11 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Worthington. Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery in Worthington.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Sunset Hospice Cottage are preferred.
