Obituary

ROSE KLEIN, age 93, of Springfield, MO, formerly of Adrian, died Sunday, February 1, 2015, at the Magnolia Square in Springfield, MO. She was born May 20, 1921, in Adrian, to John and Anna (Loonan) Cox. She graduated from St. Adrian Catholic High School in 1939 and later spent a year in Chicago working at the Mars candy factory.
Rose married James Klein on July 11, 1944, at St. Adrian Catholic Church. After their marriage, the couple lived in Magnolia. A few years later, they moved to the farm five miles west of Adrian.
After her husband's death, she moved to Springfield, MO in 1996, and lived close to her daughter Kathy until her death.
She was a member of Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Springfield. A former member of St. Adrian Catholic Church where
she was active in church & school activities, and the Catholic Daughters of America.  After raising her 8 children, Rose worked as a para-professional in the  Magnolia School District for many years during the 70's and 80's. While in Adrian, Rose enjoyed her sewing club and card club gatherings.  After moving to Springfield, Rose enjoyed swimming, playing cards, Bingo, Wii bowling at the senior center. Rose was very proud of her Irish heritage, serving as Grand Marshall at one of Adrian's St. Patrick Day Parades. She loved to remind people that she was part of America's Greatest Generation.
Rose is survived by her six children, Pat (Jon) Ross, Hutchinson; Jay Klein, Worthington; Fr. Gene Klein, Mesa, AZ; Jack (Mary) Klein, Apple Valley; Kathy (Paul) Lais, Springfield, MO; and Mike (Janet) Klein, Rochester; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Klein, Conrad, IA; fourteen grandchildren, Timothy (Kathy) Ross, Kristin (Dan) Lage, Jennifer (Dirk) DeWester, Stephanie (Tim) Hodge, Kevin Klein, Mary (Jeff) Chadwick, Anna (Darin) Schmauss, Jeff (Jenny) Koudelka, Angie Koudelka, Travis Klein, Joshua Klein, Krystal (Mike) Abrams, Elizabeth Klein and Olivia Klein. Fourteen great grandchildren; a sister, Lenora Watry, Adrian; two sisters-in-law, Marie Cox, Worthington; and Kay Cox, Adrian.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James, on February 13, 1994; son, Bob Klein; daughter, Therese Koudelka; daughter-in-law, Anita Klein; sister, Betty Steinhoff; an infant brother, Wilfred; and four brothers, James, Tom, Robert & William Cox.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday, with parish prayers at 4:15, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian. Visitation also from 9:30 to 10:15 am Friday at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Friday at St. Adrian Catholic Church, in Adrian, officiated by Fr. Thomas Jennings. Burial will be at the St. Adrian Cemetery.
