RUBY ROEMELING, age 91, of Adrian, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at her home. She was born July 15, 1923, in Goodwin, SD, to Joseph and Annie (Engels) Meyer. Ruby was baptized on June 20, 1926 and confirmed on February 6, 1938. As an infant, she moved with her family to Ellsworth and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1942.
Ruby married Cyrus on September 3, 1948, in Heron Lake. The couple lived in Adrian all of their married lives. Ruby worked at Campbells Soup Co. before working at the Adrian Rest Home for over twenty years.
She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Adrian; and was active in the Alter Care. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid and the Adrian Cemetery Aid. She enjoyed the outdoors including, fishing, gardening, hunting & camping. She also enjoyed quilting and could always remember special dates including grandchildren's birthdays.
Ruby is survived by her nine children, Bill (Sadie) Roemeling, Ohatchee, AL; Bob (Marlene) Greve, Adrian; Charleen Feekes, Adrian; Curt (Diane) Roemeling, Colorado Springs, CO; Sandra Buss, Adrian; Rhonda (friend, Ken) Archer, Kelso, WA; Rebecca (Bruce) Nuwash, Hemphill, TX; Dawn (Rich) Chance, Rochester; and Kristin Curtis, Rochester; two sons-in-law, Marvin Kern, Lismore; and Lorn Cook, Spencer, IA; thirty seven grandchildren; fifty great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; and a sister, Emily Sternborg, Estherville, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cyrus, in 1996; four daughters, Gloria Graham, in 1997; Betty Lou Roemeling, in 1962; Frances Kern, in 2009; and Darlene Cook, in 2013; three sons, Douglas Lee Roemeling, in 1955; Ronald Greve, in 1947; and Robert Roemeling, in 2006; son-in-law, Dave Buss, in 2008; three brothers, Earl, Richard & Alvin Meyer; and a sister, Edna Russell.
Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian; and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church, in Adrian, officiated by Pastor Kerry Boese. Burial will be in the Adrian Cemetery.
