Ruth Eberlein, age 95, of Luverne, died Saturday, January 14, 2012, at the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne.

She was born October 9, 1916, in Luverne to Thorvald and Hjordis (Haugner) Nielson. She graduated with honors from Luverne High School in 1934 and then began working for Northwestern Bell in Luverne.
She was united in marriage to Robert Eberlein on June 28, 1941 in Luverne. After their marriage Ruth continued to work at Northwestern Bell as an operator and later in the business office until retiring in the early 1980's. Ruth lived in Luverne all her life except for the time her husband's Army National Guard unit was activated during World War II. They moved to Duluth where Ruth continued to work for Northwestern Bell until Robert's Army National Guard training was completed. She returned to Luverne to live while Robert was stationed in Iceland for 3 years.
She was a lifelong member of First Baptist where she faithfully served the Lord in many capacities. She also enjoyed sharing memories with the Telephone Pioneers. She found great pleasure in camping, reading, visiting, crafting and she especially loved spending time doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia (Duane) Heck, Canby, MN; her son, David, Luverne, MN; her grandchildren, Kent Heck, Fargo, ND and Amy (Loren) Demmer, Canby, MN; three great-grandchildren, Logen, Kaylee, and Jakob Demmer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert in 1979; a brother, Roy Nielson; two sisters, Margaret Sodemann and Dorothy Rust.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, January 19, 2012, at First Baptist Church, Luverne, with Rev. Richard Lauger officiating. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Luverne.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, at the Dingmann Funeral Home, Luverne.
