SADIE E. FOLEY, age 93, of Luverne, died Sunday, December 13, 2009 at the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne. She was born April 19, 1916, in Walnut Grove, MN to parents, Phillip and Mary (VanHecke) DeJaeger. Sadie attended country school in rural Walnut Grove. Sadie was united in marriage to Frank Foley on September 30, 1940 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Tracy. The couple lived in Tracy until 1944 when they moved to Wilmont where they owned and operated Foley Produce Station. In 1962, the couple moved to Heron Lake. While living in Heron Lake, Sadie worked for Campbell Soup Company and later for the Heron Lake Nursing Home. After Frank?s death in 1994, Sadie continued living in Heron Lake until moving to the Centennial Apartments in Luverne to be near her family. In January of 2004, Sadie moved to the Mary Jane Brown Nursing Home. Sadie was a former member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont, the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake and most recently a member of St. Catherine?s Catholic Church in Luverne. She belonged to the Catholic Ladies Circle and taught religion classes. Sadie was also a member of the Heron Lake Senior Citizens Center. Sadie enjoyed baking and cooking, her specialty was turkey dinner, baking, gardening, sewing, embroidering, playing cards, dancing and traveling with Frank. Sadie was also an avid sports fan. She enjoyed watching the Twins, Cub?s, Brave?s and attending school sporting events to watch her children and grandchildren. Even if they were not playing she still enjoyed attending local sporting events. Sadie was the mother of nine children and worked very hard to provide for them. She was also very devoted to her family and faith. Sadie is survived by nine children and their spouses, Mary Lou (Bill) Mulligan, Luverne, MN; Patty (Bill) Rigdon, Ajo, AZ; Dennis (Carol Hopkins) Foley, Dania Beach, FL; Leona Jean (Dave) Johnson, Prior Lake, MN; Fred (Sharon) Foley, Burney, CA; Elizabeth Ann (Jerry) Buss, Luverne, MN; Alan (Joanne) Foley, Minneapolis, MN; Madonna (Craig) Carlson, Fort Dodge, IA; and Kathleen Storey, Minneapolis, MN; twenty-eight grandchildren and forty-two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank in 1994, two sisters, Grace and Marie and two brothers, Francis and Clem.
