SANDRA CUNNINGHAM, age 61, of Worthington, died, Friday, December 30, 2011 at her home. She was born January 29, 1950 in Sibley, IA; to parents John and Jennie (Wessels) Renken. She attended elementary school in Reading, MN; and graduated from Worthington High School in 1968. She then attended Worthington Community College. She worked for Windchill, Kellen, Turbes and company from 1969 to 1972.
Sandra was united in marriage to Jim Cunningham on May 13, 1972 at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Reading. They made their home all of their married years in Worthington. She worked at Ocheda Apple Orchards during the fall of each year for many years. She also worked at the Hallmark Store in Worthington and was self-employed as a bookkeeper for different businesses in Worthington.
She had been a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Reading, Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington and currently a member of First Presbyterian Church in Brookings, SD. She was a deacon at Westminster and also taught Sunday school. She was a very active church member. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, crocheting and having coffee with people. Sandra also enjoyed her family and her grandchildren.
Sandra is survived by her husband Jim Cunningham, Worthington; children, Rev. Jason (Annalisa) Cunningham, Brookings, SD and Chad (Stefanie) Cunningham, Marshall; four grandchildren, Carissa, Graham, Pierce and Colberg; brothers, John Renken, Worthington; Ervin (Norma) Renken, Worthington; Jim (Marti) Renken, Madison, WI; sisters, Janette (Harlan) Harthun, Oakdale, MN; Delores (Milford) Elsing, Sioux Falls, SD and Marilyn (Duane) Hagberg, Sioux Falls, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother Harlan Renken.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 PM at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington and also on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington
The funeral service will be Friday at 10:30 AM at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington with Pastor Jim Krapf and Pastor Jason Cunningham officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Worthington.
