SHIRLEY JEAN LORRAINE BROWER, age 74, of Worthington, died Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Adrian Country Living Cottages. She was born January 10, 1938 in Bloom Township, Nobles County, MN; to parents Ben and Agnes (Diekmann) Schroer. Shirley attended elementary school in Reading, MN; and graduated from Worthington High School in 1955.
Shirley was united in marriage to Richard Sailor on September 1, 1956 in Denver, Colorado and they lived there for five years. They later moved to Adrian, MN. She worked as an activity director in both the Adrian Nursing Home and the Ellsworth Nursing Home. The couple was divorced in 1979. She then worked as a secretary to a CPA firm in Adrian.
Shirley was united in marriage to William Brower on June 21, 1980 and moved to Worthington. She worked as a secretary to the principal of the Worthington Junior High School for 15 years. She then worked as the administrative assistant to the Superintendent of the Worthington School District for six years until her retirement on February 28, 2000.
Shirley was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington, where she was active in the choir and served as a Deacon. She enjoyed music, crafts, sewing, cross-stitching, traveling, especially with her sisters. What she enjoyed most of all was spending time with her family. She will be missed greatly.
Shirley is survived by her children, Deb (Dale) Bullerman, Adrian; Brian (Sandy) Sailor, Alexandria; Eric Sailor, Shakopee; Craig Sailor, Worthington; Brenda (Gary) Deutsch, Rogers and Ken (Lorrie) Sailor, Anoka; 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Alverna (Vern) Lovell, Galt, CA; Victor (Kathleen) Schroer, LeCenter, Joan McCormick, Slayton; Carol Holm, Minnetonka; Cecelia (Ralph) Urcan, Elk Grove, CA; Dan (Jo) Schroer, Joplin, MO; June (Jim) Brust, Tyler; Jane (Wayne) Sazama, Round Lake; and Connie (Kelly) Vortherms, Worthington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Raymond Schroer, sister Bernadette Moore and her husband William Brower.
