(Erickson) Barkuloo
October 5, 1926 – May 7, 2025
SHIRLEY ANN BARKULOO, age 98, of Worthington, died Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Meadows in Worthington. She was born October 5, 1926, in Thompson, IA, to Albert and Anna (Peterson) Erickson. After graduating from Thompson High School, she graduated from St. Olaf College, in Northfield, in 1948.
Shirley married Chuck Barkuloo on August 27, 1950, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson, IA. They would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. After their marriage, the couple lived in Thompson for a year before moving to St. Paul. After Chuck was discharged from the military, they lived in Richfield before moving to Worthington in 1960. Shirley worked as a librarian at West Elementary School, in Worthington.
She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Worthington. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, knitting and reading.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Chuck Barkuloo, Worthington; three daughters, Jane (Kevin) Olsen, Minnetonka; Nancy (Marvin) Kremin, Cottonwood; and Carol (Mark) Barkuloo, Minnetonka; eight grandchildren, Anna (Ryan) McGillivray, Britta (fiance, Adam Palm) Olsen, Siri Olsen, Samuel (Suha) Kremin, Katie (Adam) Rigge, Megan (Sean) Culhane, Lyndon Barkuloo, and Lucas Barkuloo; and four great-grandchildren, Adelaide, Annabel, Evelyn and Hazel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant grandson, Per Olsen.
Memorial service will be 1 pm Tuesday, May 13 at the American Lutheran Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Jeremy Hallquist. A time of fellowship will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at a later date at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Memorials are preferred to the Meadows and the Moments Hospice of Worthington.
Shirley's family would like to thank the staff at the Meadows & Moments Hospice for all of their care & support.
