SONE DEDTHANOU, age 65 of Worthington, died Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born on April 12, 1942 in Khokkham, Nongkhai, Thailand, to parents Tan and Lot Heymachai. In 1955, Sone moved with his family to Laos and studied for six years. He served in the Laos Neutral Army in Vangvieng, until they lost power in the 1960?s and at that time he was forced to flee the city and lived in the jungle. In 1973, the three governments merged and he moved back to the city. In 1975 he moved to back to Khokkham, Thailand as a refugee and worked as a private doctor. In 1971, Sone was united in marriage to Seng. In 1990 they moved to the United States and lived in Houston, TX, sponsored by the Presbyterian Church. He later moved to Sioux City, Iowa to work for IBP. In 1991, he moved with his family to Worthington and served as a deacon with the Lao people. While living in Worthington, Sone had leadership training classes offered by Dordt and Calvin Colleges. He was examined by Classis Minnkota and was ordained as a ministry associate in 1998. Sone continued with his leadership training and was employed by Classis Minnkota and Christian Reformed Home Mission Board. Sone is survived by his wife, Seng Dedthanou, Worthington; six children, Somphone D Cam, Des Moines, IA; Thavone Dedthanou, Des Moines, IA; Nilakhone Dedthanou, Worthington; Somphob Dedthanou; Des Moines, IA; Lalavanh Dedthanou, Worthington; Phonephanh Dedthanou, Moorhead, MN; seven sisters and one brother.
