GRATIA H. STOWER, age 100, of Worthington, died Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Crossroads Care Center in Worthington. She was born April 10, 1909 in Anoka, MN; to parents Grotius and Nettie (Richardson) Giddings. She graduated from Anoka High School in Anoka, MN and attended two years of college. Gratia was united in marriage to Gene Stower on June 27, 1931 in Anoka, MN. They lived in Elk River, MN and moved to Worthington in 1937. She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Worthington and taught Sunday School and Bible School. She enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, reading, playing games and cards with her family. She also loved horseback riding and traveling. Gratia especially loved reading and playing the piano for the residents at the nursing home. She also kept active driving her friends to church and other activities along with her volunteer work. Gratia is survived by her children, Elaine (Casey) Snodgrass, Highmore, SD and William (Carol) Stower, St. Paul, MN; daughter in-law, Kathy Stower, fifteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and fifteen great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene Stower on November 19, 1970, son Jim, great grandson, Alex, two brothers George and Ralph and a sister Laura.
