SYLVIA CLARINE KROMMENDYK , age 90, of Worthington MN died Tuesday, October 20, 2020 in Plymouth MN. She was born July 28, 1930 in Sioux County, IA, to Roy and Ruth (Borgman) DeBoer.

Sylvia married Henry Krommendyk on June 12, 1951, in Ireton IA. They lived in San Diego for a few years before moving back to Le Mars, IA.  The couple then moved to Worthington, MN around 1962 where they settled in and raised their family.

Sylvia was a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church where she deeply cherished her time of fellowship with the congregation.  Her favorite day of the week was Sunday, she so looked forward to the church choir and quartet performing her favorite hymns.  She stayed busy as a mother, a homemaker, and working in the mail room at the Worthington Daily Globe for 35 years.  Sylvia grew up on a farm outside of Le Mars, IA where she found her love for gardening.  She took much pride in her bounty of fruits and vegetables that her family always loved.  She also cherished flowers and tended beautiful peony, tulip, and iris gardens.  Her love of gardening was passed down to her children and grandchildren.  More than anything, Sylvia loved children and was always happiest with a child on her lap.

Sylvia is survived by her five children, Michael Lee, Spearfish, SD; Sue (Buck) Manning, Plymouth; Julie Krommendyk, Worthington; Pam Taheri, Minneapolis; and Joel Krommendyk, Worthington; grandchildren, Josh Krommendyk; and Emily Krommendyk; one great grandchild, Cameron Henry Krommendyk; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; and five siblings, Gerald, Bud, Elroy (Babe), Del, and Vera .

Visitation will be held and the Christian Reformed Church in Worthington on Sunday, October 25, from 3:00 – 5:00.

Funeral service will also be at the Christian Reformed church on Monday at 11:00.
