Terry Meyer

Terry Meyer, age 80, of Reading, was born in Wallace, Idaho to Cecil and Della (Ross) Meyer on July 10,1945 and passed away in hospice care at the Murray County Medical Center in Slayton on June 21, 2026. They moved to Keystone, SD when he was 8 years old. He made a decision to enter out into the world on his own at a young age and went between Minnesota and South Dakota and even back to Idaho many times until settling in Worthington.

He was a jack of all trades and not afraid of hard work. He worked in the silver mines for some time in Idaho and worked for the state of SD when in the Black Hills. He eventually settled down and started up his own concrete company in Worthington. He bought a house in Reading, MN and even owned the bar there for a period of time.

Terry was married to Verda Somnis on June 2, 2010 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and lived out many happy years together in their home in Reading. He loved being outdoors and finding different fishing spots with his grandsons or even just fiddling around in the shop at home. It was never about the fish that were caught but more about the time they got to spend together doing what he loved. If he wasn’t outside doing something you could find him watching NASCAR in the living room. No matter where he settled for his life he loved Keystone and enjoyed telling stories of his time there. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren became the absolute light of his life, and nothing brought a brighter smile to his face than being surrounded by their laughter and energy.

He was an active member of the Eagles Aerie in Worthington 3282 and a past state president. He might not have been Frank Sinatra but he did it his way.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Verda, his children Terry Dale (Sue) Meyer, Lori (Rod) Casper, Travis Lange; his siblings Judy (John)Baird, Bruce (Cindy) Meyer, Debbie (Doyle) Finke along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Cecil Meyer, mother Della (Ross) Meyer, and grandson Nathanael Casper.
