THELMA ESTHER WASS, age 95, of Worthington, died Friday, August 24, 2012 at South Shore Care Center in Worthington. She was born December 1, 1916 in Ransom Township to Thomas and Mina (Fremming) Thompson. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. Thelma graduated from Adrian High School in 1933.
Thelma married Harold Wass on December 12, 1939 in Adrian. After marriage they farmed in Bigelow Township until they retired in 1974 and moved to Worthington. She was a member of First Covenant Church in Worthington and was active in Covenant Women and Beacon Bible Class. She loved spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She will also be remembered for her great sense of humor.
Thelma is survived by her husband, Harold, Worthington; three children, Patricia (Dale) Frantz, Laurens, IA; Tom Wass, Sioux Falls, SD; Nancy (Kevin) Flynn, Worthington; six grandchildren, Lance Greig, Steve (Mary) Greig, Laurie Powell, Leslie Bowar, Tessa Flynn, Kayla Flynn, ten great-grandchildren, Ashley, Brittany, Alex, Danielle, Samantha, Alyssa, Abby, Halle, Pierce, and Brett; sisters-in-law, Marian Weitgenant, Worthington and Mary Wass, Bigelow; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers and an infant sister, great-granddaughter Jasmine Greig; five brothers Bernace, Michael (Clarice), Norman (Magdalene), Clayton (Cec), and Orville (Sheila); four sisters, Lena (Bill) Elias, Ruth (Austin) Madison, Minta (Russell) Bulick and Mina (Jake) Casareto.
