TILLIE (SVEHLA) JOHANNING, age 95, of Adrian, died Monday, May 4, 2009 at the Parkview Manor in Ellsworth. She was born April 25, 1914 in Seward Township, Nobles County, MN, to parents, Bernard and Victoria (Weidert) Finke. She was baptized at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont and attended rural school in Nobles County. After her schooling she helped the Clarence and Theresa Fuerstenburg family and later worked for Ray and Mary Johanning on their farm near St. Kilian. Tillie was united in marriage to Al Johanning on February 28, 1938 at St. Kilian. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1957. After her husband?s death, she moved to Adrian where she raised her family. On February 14, 1981 she married Frank Svehla at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Worthington. They farmed in rural Jackson. Frank preceded her in death on January 2, 2001. After his death, Tillie moved back to Adrian and later to Round Lake to live with her son, Roger until April 5, 2007 when she moved to the Park View Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth. She was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Worthington and a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed traveling and playing cards. Tillie is survived by her five children, Ron Johanning, Slayton, MN; Loren (Connie) Johanning, Heron Lake, MN; Denny Johanning, Ellsworth, MN; Tom (Shirley) Johanning, Valley Springs, SD; and Roger Johanning, Round Lake, MN; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, three step-children, Jeanne Landwehr, Embarrass, MN; Ron Svehla, Maple Grove, MN; and Nancy Jensen, Truman, MN. She is also survived by step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Al Johanning, husband, Frank Svehla, infant daughter, Elizabeth, oldest son, Marvin, nine sisters, three brothers and three daughters-in-law, Curly, Verla and Karen Johanning.
