Obituary

Trygve ?Trig? Jarle Vegge, age 89, of Luverne, Minnesota, died Sunday, February 11, 2007, at the Sanford Hospice of Luverne. Trygve was born on August 9, 1917, to Tallak and Johanna (Helle) Vegge in Rock County, Minnesota. Trygve grew up in rural Luverne where he attended District 4 West country school. He farmed and worked as a cattle buyer for Rice Brothers at the Sioux Falls Stockyards. Trygve married Eunice Berkland and moved to their family farm west of Luverne where they farmed for over 50 years. Trygve was also a salesman for DeKalb Seed Co. and continued in cattle trading for many years. Trygve served on various committees and sang in the choir at Grace Lutheran Church. He also gave his time willingly to the community by serving as a director of the Luverne Township Board, member of the Luverne Township Zoning Committee, 4-H leader, member of the Augustana College Fellows, director on the Rock-Nobles Cattlemen?s Association Board, and a director for the Tuff Memorial Home Board in Hills, Minnesota. Trygve celebrated his love for music and Norwegian heritage with decades of involvement with the Norse Glee Club of Sioux Falls, Agder Lagt organization, and Sons of Norway. Trygve will be lovingly remembered by his son Fred (Sara) Vegge of New Brighton, Minnesota, and granddaughters Rachel (Tim) Walling, of Sioux Falls, and Rebecca Vegge, of New Brighton, and great granddaughter Ahna Walling; daughter Martha (Tom) Nelson of Sioux Falls, and grandsons T.J. and Daniel; sister Margaret Vegge, of Luverne, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; brothers Carl and Norman (Louise) Vegge; his sister Tilda (Reuben) Larson; Geneva (Gilman) Roti, Elma, Alice and Florence Berkland (sisters-in-law); Simon, Gifford (Muriel), Lawrence, Sam (Blanche), and Marvin Berkland (brothers-in-law). A tree will be dedicated in honor of Trygve Vegge by Sanford Hospice of Luverne. Blessed Be His Memory.
