VERENA MARY (BREMER) DRIESSEN, age 94, of Wilmont, died Friday, December 27, 2013, at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center. She was born September 4, 1919, in Wilmont to Henry and Anna (Koch) Bremer. She attended school in Wilmont and later worked as a telephone operator in the Wilmont office.
Verena was united in marriage to Fredrick (Sam) Driessen on September 23, 1942, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, in Wilmont. Fred was in the Military in California, so Verena worked with her sister in a canning factory in Waunakee, WS. She moved to California to be with her husband later that year. They moved back to Wilmont after Sam was honorably discharge from the service.
She was a member of Our Lady Of Good Counsel Church where she was active in CCW and CDA. She was very active in church activities; she took care of the Sacristy when the Nuns were gone over the summer and did it full time after the catholic school closed. Verena loved flowers and gardening, but her favorite pass time was playing cards of any kind.
She is survived by three daughter; Mary (Jerry) Kellen, Lismore; Vickie (Doug) Aaseng, Brandon, SD; Ruth (Tom) Kattke, Ramona, SD; five grandsons, Michael (Rhonda) Kellen; John (Ann) Kellen, Lee (Janet) Aaseng; Paul (Amanda) Aaseng; Matt Buck; three granddaughters, Angie (Allan) Dunkelberger; Shana (Jason) Gerdes; Ashley Buck; fifteen great grandchildren, Kayla and Amber Kellen,; James, Theresa, Michael, Elizebeth, Katlyn, Dominic, Jacob Aaseng; Alliana Gerdes; Bennie, Maliyah Buck; Tanner, Brandon, Brody Dunkelberger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Sam in 2007, six brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Sunday, with parish prayers at 6:30 pm at Our Lady Of Good Counsel Catholic Church; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Monday at Our Lady Of Good Counsel Catholic Church, in Wilmont, officiated by Fr. Andrew Beerman. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Wilmont.
