VERNA KLENKEN, age 85, of Wilmont, died Sunday, January 14, 2007 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born September 10, 1921 in Luverne to parents Claude and Mary (Noonan) Scott. She attended rural schools near Lake Wilson and also the Fulda area. Verna was united in marriage to Raymond Klenken on February 4, 1943 in Iona, MN. After their marriage the couple farmed one half mile south of Wilmont. In November of 1978 they retired and moved into Wilmont. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont and also the WCCW. Verna also belonged to the Wilmont Senior Citizens. Verna enjoyed quilting, playing cards, gardening and flowers. She also loved baking and canning. She especially enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Verna is survived by her children, Marilyn (Wayne) Samp, Worthington; Linda Mahan, Wilmont and Gary (Roberta) Klenken, Wilmont; seven grandchildren, Craig, Stacy, Eric, Chad, Melissa, Todd and Ryan; ten great grandchildren, Andrew, Erica, Ronald, Katherine, Tyler, Kristin, Emma, Collin, Hunter and Christian; one brother, Wally (Donna) Scott, Slayton; and one sister, Ethel Riesselman, Cottage Grove, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond on December 30, 2001; two sons, Ronald Klenken in October of 1978 and Robert Klenken in February of 2001 and one brother, Kelly.
