VERNICE AUGUSTA KUHL, age 86, of Worthington, died Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda, MN. She was born July 10, 1928, on the family farm near Adrian, MN to parents Henry F. and Augusta (Tiesler) Kopplow. She attended country school near Adrian, MN. After her schooling she worked as a hired girl for various families.
Vernice was united in marriage to Raymond E. Kuhl on January 31, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Parsonage in Brewster, MN. They made their home on the family farm with their five sons near Reading, MN.
She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Worthington. She was active in the LWML, the ladies circles, and volunteered her services in many ways, including serving many funeral dinners. Above all, she loved the Lord.
Vernice volunteered with the American Red Cross and The Achievement Center of Worthington. She also visited many people in area nursing homes and helped with nursing home activities. She was a licensed adult foster care provider opening her home to provide a place for numerous people to live.
Over the years Vernice was known as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was very important to her.
Vernice is survived by her husband, Raymond E. Kuhl, Worthington, MN; sons, Wendell (Shirla) Kuhl, Reading, MN; Marlin (JoAnn) Kuhl, Hinesville, GA; Steven (Kelly) Kuhl, East Troy, WI; Burdell (Jolene) Kuhl, Worthington, MN; and LeRoy (Linda) Kuhl, Hutchinson, MN; 14 grandchildren, Kris (Melanie) Kuhl, Kari (Phil) Skaar, Angela (Chris) Gollob, Benjamin Kuhl, Joshua Wohlleben, Madalyn (fiancée Brett) Wohlleben, Amery (Samantha) Kuhl, Kristi (Adam) Bauer, Mindy Kuhl, Kayli Kuhl, Brian (Jesca) Kuhl, Nikki (Josh) VandenBerg, Rodney (Amy) Kuhl, Kevin Kuhl; 9 great grandchildren, Layne, Levi, Jensyn, Jacob, Brady, Amani, Akisa, Drew and Henry. She is also survived by a brother Carl Kopplow, Adrian, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Irene Kamrath.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. Visitation will continue from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Worthington. Pastor Dennis Brech will officiate. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Worthington.
