VERNON VON DER LIETH, age 76, of Beaver Creek, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at the Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD. He was born May 3, 1940, in rural Rock Rapids, IA, to Charles and Marie (Schultz) Von Der Lieth. He was baptized on May 26, 1940 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, in Rock Rapids, IA. Vernon was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, in Luverne, on August 19, 1956. He attended grade school in rural Rock Rapids through the third grade, the family moved to Beaver Creek where he attended school and graduated from Beaver Creek High School in 1958.

After he graduated, Vernon worked for different businesses in the area, including A.R. Woods in Luverne, Luverne Trucking Equipment in Brandon and Sioux Falls, and he also drove Taxi in Sioux Falls.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, and taking care of their lawn.

Vernon is survived by his brother, Frederick Von Der Lieth, Beaver Creek; and a step sister, Patricia Skorkian, Lancaster, CA.

He is preceded in death by his parents; four step brothers and a step sister.

Visitation will be from 10-11AM Saturday, at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. Funeral will be 11:00 AM Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Gary Klatt.  Burial will be in the Beaver Creek Cemetery
