Obituary

VINCENT "VINNIE? ANDREW MAUCH, age 84, of Adrian, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at the Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born March 2, 1925, in Adrian, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Ludowese) Mauch. Vinnie attended country school in rural Adrian and also attended St. Adrian Catholic High School. He received his GED while in the military. He served his country in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean Conflict. Vinnie was stationed in Germany in the 887th Field Artillery ?A? Battery as a Gun Mechanic. After returning from the service, he continued farming. Vinnie married Helen Dirksen on September 7, 1955, at St. Adrian Catholic Church. After their marriage, the couple farmed southwest of Adrian. In 1971, they purchased the Country Side Inn and owned & operated it until 1993. In 1976, they moved to Adrian. He was a member of St. Adrian Catholic Church; a lifetime member of the VFW Post #2757, in Luverne; and a member of the American Legion Argonne Post #32 in Adrian. He loved farming. Vinnie is survived by his wife, Helen Mauch, Adrian; four children, Katherine (John) Houston, Omaha, NE; Michael (Victoria Thompson) Mauch, Sacramento, CA; David Mauch, Adrian; and Mary (Albert ?Terry?) Foster, Tonka Bay; two grandchildren, Susan & Amy Foster; and a sister, Lorraine ?Becky? Sinclair, Garden Grove, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Leonard, Raymond & Elmer Mauch; and four sisters, Sr. Maxine ?Odelia? Mauch, Marcella Bittner, Eleanor ?Pug? Kohn & Rosalia ?Zatz? Bornschein.
