VIOLA PEDERSON, age 91, a resident of Fulda, died Saturday, March 26, 2016, at South Shore Care Center in Worthington. She was born on June 27, 1924 in Little Rock Township in Nobles County to parents Karl and Reka (Honken) Braun. She attended rural school and grew up in Nobles and Rock counties in Minnesota.
Viola married Ronald Pederson on June 19, 1949 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, IA and they settled in Worthington. Viola worked as a clerk at Ben Franklin and a dental assistant to Dr. Eugene Seleen. During the Korean Conflict, Ronald was stationed in Rhode Island for the United States Navy and Viola joined him out east.
Ronald and Viola moved to their farm in rural Fulda in the fall of 1955. Their son Shane was born in 1958. After retirement in the 1990's they remained living on the farm. Viola enjoyed the farm life. She had beautiful flower gardens. She liked to read and to paint. Viola loved being outside and taking care of her cats. Most of all, though, she loved her family and spending time with them, her granddaughter Grace, son Shane and wife Mary, and sister Evelyn and her son Wesley and his family.
Viola was a remarkable person, full of love and energy. She touched the lives of all the friends and family that knew her and will be greatly missed. She enjoyed gardening, reading, caring for her cats and being outside.
She is survived by her son, Shane (wife Mary Dowling) Pederson, Oak Park, IL; one granddaughter Grace Pederson, her sister Evelyn Jacobs, Worthington, MN; and nineteen nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ronald on November 4, 2005 and two brothers, Adolph and Otto Braun, four sisters, Meta Johnson, Ella Yuster, Lydia Johnson and Emma Luther.
