VIRGINIA MARIE McNEIL, age 75, of Luverne, died Sunday, December 23, 2007 at the Hospice Cottage in Luverne. She was born March 15, 1932 in Beresford, South Dakota to parents Frank and Inez (Bickett) Leist. She attended elementary and high school in Beresford. Virginia graduated from Presentation School of Nursing Mckennan in September of 1953. She worked as a Registered Nurse in San Diego, Sioux Falls and Luverne. Virginia was united in marriage to Dennis McNeil on November 25, 1953 in Beresford. They made their home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, San Diego, California and moved to Luverne in 1967. To this union three children were born, Dennis G. McNeil, Patrick McNeil and Jane McNeil. She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne and was a greeter. She loved gardening and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed watching birds, especially cardinals, and doing hand stitched quilts. Virginia enjoyed canning her beets and tomatoes. They also liked going to the USS Mansfield Navy reunions with her husband and enjoyed traveling. Virginia is survived by her children Dennis G. McNeil, Oak Harbor, Washington; Patrick (Kerry) McNeil, Sioux Falls and Jane McNeil, Luverne; 2 grandchildren, Michael Ryan McNeil, Denver, Colorado; and Lisa (Keith) Holt, Harrisburg, South Dakota; sisters, Mildred (Bob) Dixon, Tehachapi, California and Betty Ross, LaVerne, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dennis in 2002, four brothers and three sisters. Blessed Be Her Memory.
