VYONNA LOU VELVA MAXWELL, age 76, of Luverne, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the Tuff Memorial Nursing Home in Hills, MN. She was born on February 8, 1932 on the family farm in rural Hardwick, to parents William A. and Clara (Stelling) Anderson. Vyonna was baptized, confirmed, and married in the Zion Lutheran Church, Hardwick. She was educated through 8th grade in Hardwick and then attended High School in Luverne. She married Curtis B. Maxwell on December 28, 1949. After marriage, Vyonna has always been a resident of Luverne until 2006 when she and Curt moved to the Tuff Memorial Home. Vyonna enjoyed her home, children and grandchildren. She also loved dancing, sewing, and making crafts. As a member of St. John Lutheran Church, she was a member of the Women?s Society and the ladies circle. For many years she belonged to the Rock County Extension Club and she was a member of the Luverne Fireman Auxiliary. Vyonna was employed by Schutz Hardware, Ben Franklin, Luverne, and she also was the bookkeeper for Curt?s construction business. On March 13, 1993, Vyonna received a single lung transplant and was forever grateful to the anonymous donor?s family. She and her family and friends are also thankful for the blessing of fifteen additional years of life. Vyonna is survived by her husband, Curtis Maxwell, Hills, MN; five children, Curtis, Jr. (Sandy) Maxwell, Luverne; Linda (Dominic) Maras, Luverne; Dawn Maxwell (Bob Christiansen), Savage, MN; Daniel (Linda) Maxwell, Plymouth, MN; Randy (Susan) Maxwell, St. Louis, MO; eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one brother, Myron (Lil) Anderson, Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers.
