Wanda Roskamp Douglas, age 91, of Worthington, Minnesota, died Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage, in Worthington, MN. She was born on June 10, 1935, in Bancroft, Iowa, to Ehno & Elsie Smidt Folkerts.
Wanda Married Paul K. Roskamp on August 18, 1953, at the Ramsey Reformed Church, rural Titonka, Iowa. They farmed for 10 years near Titonka and then purchased a farm south of Okabena, Minnesota, and resided there for 29 years. They retired in 1993 and moved to Worthington, Minnesota.
Wanda enjoyed playing her guitar and “squeeze box” accordions, and entertained in nursing homes and special music in church. Wanda was an accomplished musician. She was also a yodeler, who practiced as a young girl while getting the cows home to be milked. She won yodeler awards at a country music festival, in Avoca, Iowa in 1990. As well as, accordion awards in 1994 and 1996. She loved playing cards with friends and family, especially “Hand and Foot”. She was competitive and didn’t mind winning. She was an avid jigsaw puzzler and got her daughter Brenda hooked on it too. She and Paul enjoyed square dancing for many years until his death on August 16, 1997.
Wanda is survived by her daughter Brenda (Roger) Merges, Colman, South Dakota, son Kenneth (Sandra) Roskamp, Bigelow, Minnesota, daughter Vivian (Jim) Richards, Sherburn, Minnesota; daughter Patricia (Rodney) Matteson, Lakefield, Minnesota; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Karen Folkerts, Titonka, Iowa.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, husband, Paul, and sisters Elaine Sleper & Anna Grace Tegtmeyer, and brothers Frank Folkerts, Gary Folkerts, and Ronald Folkerts.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at American Reformed Church in Worthington, MN officiated by Pastor Alan Salwei. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday. Burial will take place at Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery following the funeral service.
