WESLEY J. NAVARA, age 97, of Luverne, died Monday, September 5, 2011, at the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne. He was born January 24, 1914, in Lakefield, to John and Theresa (Felix) Navara. He attended Lakefield Public Schools. During the Great Depression, Wes worked for the CCC. He also was in the Civil Defense in Windom.
Wes married Marion Geisendorfer on July 1, 1939, in Sibley, IA. After their marriage, the couple lived in Worthington where Wes worked for Worthmore. In 1940, the couple moved to Windom where Wes became the locker plant manager at Worthmore. He was later promoted to overall plant manager. They moved to Luverne in 1952 where he managed the Worthmore plant at that location. He later became the owner & operator of Navara Produce in Luverne. In the early 1970's Wes began working at Land O' Lakes before retiring in the early 1980's.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne where he had served as Treasurer; participated in several civil activities in Windom; and the Luverne Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching the Minnesota Twins & Vikings.
Wes is survived by his wife, Marion Navara, Luverne; three sons, Robert (Twilla) Navara, Lakeville; Paul (Marna) Navara, Boone, IA; and Mark (Mary) Navara, South Haven; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Navara, Wesley Navara, Joshua (Christine) Navara, Jordan Navara, Jill Nelson, Christopher (Angela) Navara & Tami (Gregg) Riley; seven great grandchildren, Megan, Brian, Adam, Rachel, Paige, Ethan & Jonathan; and a sister, Marion Franze, White Fish, MT.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lynn Marie Nelson, in 1970; seven brothers, Joseph, Raymond, Felix, John, Adrian, Lawrence & Theodore; and three sisters, Mildred Thomas, Elsie Navara & Frances Svoboda.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne; and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, in Luverne, officiated by Rev. Josh Enderson. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
