Obituary

WILHELMINA ?MINNIE? A. MUNKEL, age 79, of Worthington, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at her home. She was born January 19, 1929, in Ewington Township, rural Jackson County, to Siebelt and Anna (VonVelde) Saathoff. She graduated from Okabena High School. Minnie married George Munkel on December 6, 1947, in Worthington. After their marriage, the couple lived in Worthington before moving to Slayton. In the early 1950?s, the family moved back to Worthington. Minnie worked at Swanson?s, which later became Campbell?s Soup Company, in Worthington. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church, in Worthington; and the Worthington Senior Citizens, where she had been the coordinator. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, baking and occasional casino trips. Minnie is survived by her four children and their spouses, William & Geri Munkel, Worthington; Marlene Tuin, Worthington; Edwin & Julie Munkel, Rushmore; Robert & Rosella, Munkel, Worthington; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and a sister, Flory Muller, Worthington. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George, on September 25, 1984; two brothers, Harm & Ted Saathoff; and two sisters, Annie Kenney & Clara ?Babe? Rustman.
