Willemina (Groen) Doppenberg was born to John & Henrietta (Selles) Groen on August 18, 1917, on a farm by Leota, MN.   After graduating from 8th grade, she did house labor for other families until she married Albert Doppenberg on August 18, 1936.  They farmed in the Chandler area and raised four sons. Albert and Willemina retired from farming in 1973 and moved to Leota. Albert died November  8, 1995. Albert and Willemina were very active in the church and she continued to be so after his death.  In 2005 she moved to Edgebrook Estates Apartments and in 2012 she became a resident of Edgebrook Care Center. Willemina died on July 30, 2015, just 19 days shy of her 98th birthday.
She is lovingly remembered by her sons:  Gerrit & Joellen of Sioux Falls, SD; Jerry & Jan of Chandler, MN;  Wally & Melanie of Thomasville, GA; and Loren & Shirley of Brandon, SD; 15 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 3 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Albert; brothers: Gerrit, John Jr., Cornelius, Klaas and Henry; sisters:  Alice, Carrie and Henreitta; and two grandchildren: Delwyn Doppenberg and Shawn Mofle .
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Tuesday at the Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church in Leota. Funeral will be 10:30 am Wednesday at the Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church in Leota. Burial will be in the Leota Community Cemetery.
Arrangements are being made by the Leota Burial Association and Dingmann Funeral Home.
