Obituary

WILLIAM ?Bill? WOODROW HENRICHS, age 90, of Marshall, formerly of Ellsworth, died Wednesday, September 06, 2006, in Brainerd. He was born December 10, 1915, in Grand Prairie Township, Nobles County, to Iko and Sophia (Busse) Henrichs. He attended District #54 School in rural Ellsworth; and later attended Agriculture School in Luverne. Bill married Mercedes Nolte on November 21, 1941, in rural Rushmore. After their marriage, the couple lived in Adrian before Bill entered the United States Army on February 10, 1942. He served his country in the Medical Detachment in the Philippians before being discharged on January 7, 1946. After Bill returned from the service, he farmed in the Ellsworth & Magnolia areas before retiring in 1979. The couple moved to Ellsworth in 1976. He was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church, in Ellsworth. Bill had served as the church Trustee, Deacon & Elder and was a member of the church choir. He served as Chairman of the ASC Board; and was a member of the Ellsworth American Legion Post #196. Bill enjoyed traveling, bowling, woodworking & playing pinochle. He especially enjoyed socializing & participating in activities with his friends at Boulder Estates in Marshall. Bill is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carol & Richard Slieter, Baxter; three grandchildren, Eric & his wife, Kristin, Apple Valley; Matt & his wife, Kelly, Savage; and Jaime, Minneapolis; one great granddaughter, Marah Sleiter; brother, Noel Henrichs, Magnolia; and a sister, Shirley Burmeister, Lake Benton. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mercedes Henrichs, on February 13, 1998; a son, David; a brother, Henry; and four sisters, Anna, Ivanette, Margaret & Gertrude.
