Obituary

WILLIAM "BILL" LEE MEYER, age 75, of Round Lake, died Saturday February 16, 2019 at Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, IA, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 6th, 1943, in Worthington to Raymond and Mary (Erbes) Meyer. Bill grew up on the family farm in Sioux Valley and graduated from Sioux Valley High School in 1961. He served his country for two years in the U.S. Army; he was honorably discharged on January 31st of 1967 and received the Good Conduct Medal & National Defense Service Medal.

Bill married the love of his life, Sharon Jurgensen, on April 15th, 1967 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Round Lake. After marriage, they lived in Round Lake where they raised two daughters. In 1991, they built their dream home on the north side of Round Lake.

Bill worked at Sather's Cookie and Candy Company for forty five years until he retired in February of 2009. Bill enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, taking family vacations and an occasional trip to a casino. He loved watching westerns, NASCAR, and Vikings football. He loved spending time with family and friends along with attending his grandchildrens' sporting events, as he was their #1 fan. He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Round Lake and an active member of the Round Lake American Legion Post #461.

Bill is survived by his wife Sharon of fifty one years, Round Lake; two daughters, Leah (Ron) Lonneman, Adrian; and Laura (Todd) Henderson, Worthington; four grandchildren, Mitchell & Bailey Lonneman, and Megan & Ethan Henderson; two brothers, Arnold (LeAnne) Meyer, Worthington; and James (Marcia) Meyer, Amery, WI; sister, Sharon (Stan) Block, Fairmont; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Meyer, Rocky Ford, CO; and Rosie Schumann, Round Lake; four brothers-in-law, Larry (Darleen) Jurgensen, Kansas City, MO; Dale (Mindy) Jurgensen, Lake Park, IA; David (Diane) Jurgensen, Worthington; and Stan Jurgensen, Round Lake; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Meyer; and a brother-in-law, David Schumann.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 pm at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Funeral will be on Friday at 10:30 am at the Bethel Lutheran Church, in Round Lake, officiated by Pastor Marvin Soulek. Interment with full Military Honors provided by the Round Lake American Legion will be in the Round Lake Cemetery.
