WILLIAM PETER MEYERS, JR. age 81, of Worthington, died, Monday, August 30, 2010 at Avera McKenna Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born May 2, 1929 in Worthington to parents, William P. Meyers, SR and Anne E. (Durband) Meyers. He attended school at Worthington Public Schools. After his schooling he worked for Jack Bootie at Worthington Produce from 1945 until 1952. He served his nation during the Korean Conflict stationed at Camp Cook in California. He began working for Campbell Soup on May 2, 1953 and retired on June 1, 1991 in plant service. He was united in marriage to Rose Mary Petersen on May 4, 1958 at St. Peter?s Lutheran Church in Ocheyedan, IA. They made their home in Worthington all their married life. In 1999, he worked at the Worthington Cemetery for a short time. He was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Worthington and a member of the American Legion in Round Lake, MN. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. William is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Meyers, Worthington; sons, Roger P. (Barb) Meyers, Crooks, SD and Dale E. Meyers, Worthington; three grandchildren, Jennifer Meyers, Roger Meyers II and William Meyers; a sister, Kathy Spillman, Worthington. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, John William Meyers, one brother, Joseph Meyers and a sister Elizabeth Manitz. Visitation will be Friday from 10 to 11 AM at the St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Worthington. The Memorial Service will be Friday at 11 AM at the St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Worthington with Father James Callahan officiating.
