ZACHARY M. ZWAAN, age 21, of Luverne, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls due to heart failure. He was born on April 17, 1988 to parents Monte and Staci (Israelson) Zwaan in Luverne, MN. Zach was born with congenital heart disease and later received a heart transplant at the age of four. Zach has fought a long hard fight and impacted and changed a lot of peoples lives. Doctors and caregivers have learned many things from his life. His gift of life beyond expectations, has helped many others with similar struggles. His accomplishments in life were loving his family and showing them joy. He was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne. He also graduated in May of 2009 at the Children?s Care Hospital and School. He loved to swing, walk, loud noises, hugging, pinching, wrestling with his dad and being in the water. Zach is survived by his parents, Monte and Staci Zwaan, Luverne; sisters Mackenzi and Chazni; grandparents, Raney and Jan Israelson, Luverne; and Henry and Carol Zwaan, Steen; great grandparents Nick Zwaan and Madge May. He is also survived by his friends he lived with at the Christensen House, Brian, Chris and Alex.
