Ardean “Bub” Walgrave, passed peacefully on February 5, 2021, at 100 years young. He was surrounded by memories of his lifetime and listening to one of his favorites, Frank Sinatra. He was able to celebrate his Centurion Status with friends and family a few weeks before at his home for the last 3-1/2 years, Oasis.
Bub was born 1-15-1921 to Charles and Adelaide Walgrave. He grew up in a large family, having had 11 siblings. He had many nieces and nephews that he loved and spent time with. Bub married Audrey Corbett and they were blessed with two children, Daniel James and Mary Patricia. Besides his two children, he loved his grandchildren, Danielle (Richelle) Aanenson and Gregory (Christina) to pieces.
He was a member of St. Catherine’s church and served on the Knights of Columbus for several years. Additionally he enjoyed his days as a Catechism teacher.
He was a working man, farming, which he loved. He also volunteered for his local 4-H and thoroughly enjoyed having both his children active in 4-H, especially showing steers. His tenure as the “Plantoligist” (as he called himself) at Kenny’s Super Valu spanned several years. He also mowed the lawn at the cemetery for many years.
And we can’t forget his love of cards. He loved poker and cribbage, but his favorite was pinochle.
