Barbara Jo (Casper) Waage

   BARBARA JO WAAGE, age 68, of Worthington, died Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born September 22, 1955, in Worthington, to Samuel and Ruth (Kunze) Casper. She graduated from Brewster High School.
   Barb married Steve Erwin in March of 1976. To this union three children were born, Jason, Brian and Amy. They later divorced.
   Barb married Alan Waage on June 22, 1987 in Sioux Falls, SD. To this union a son was born, Michael. The couple lived in various places including Illinois and California before moving to Worthington in 1998. Barb worked most of her life in the fast food business until health issues forced her to retire in 2020. She worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken, McDonalds, Burger King and Subway. She enjoyed LEGOS and was influential in her grandchildren’s faith development, and spending time with them. She also enjoyed watching the Twins and Vikings.
   Barb is survived by her husband, Alan Waage, Worthington; three sons, Jason Erwin, Martin, SD; Brian (Christina) Erwin, Worthington; and Michael (Heather) Waage, Sioux Falls, SD; a daughter, Amy Erwin, Worthington; thirteen grandchildren, Mason, Kayla, Tinisha, Olliana, Abryona, Zecheus “Zeke”, Aaliyah, Ayden, Ashlyn, Adalyn, Makenzi, Makynzli and Makayla; three brothers, Sam (Becky) Casper, Huron, SD; Jim (Alice) Casper, Wichita KS; and Rod (Lori) Casper, Brewster; two sisters, Mary (Merlin) Clausen, Brewster; and Carol Casper, Brewster; two aunts, Mary (James) Kraft, Worthington; and Betty Berreau, Morgan, MN; and many family members and friends.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; a niece; two nephews; and several aunts & uncles.
   Barb’s final act of kindness was to give the gift of sight through organ and tissue donation.

   A memorial service will be 2 pm Thursday, November 9 at the First Lutheran Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Jeanette McCormick. A time of fellowship will be from 12:30 to 2:00 PM Thursday at the church. A private burial will take place at a later date.
