BERNADINE ECKERSON, age 93, of Worthington, died Saturday, February 12, 2022, in Farmington. She was born January 29, 1929, in Smith Center, KS, to Percy and Mary Ruth (Brown) Havens. At the age of six, Bernadine moved to Iowa Falls, IA, with her family. She graduated from Iowa Falls High School; and attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis.
Bernadine married Merle Eckerson on October 27, 1950. After Merle was discharged from the Army, the couple moved to Worthington. Bernadine worked at Skaggs, Campbells Soup, Worthington Iron and Metal, and Dyke's Tractor Salvage.
She was a member of Solid Rock Church in Worthington where she taught Sunday School for many years and was on the prayer ministry team.
Bernadine is survived by her three children, Larry (Debbie) Eckerson, Farmington; Twila Lindeman, Farmington; and Merlin (Laurie) Eckerson, St. Peter; six grandchildren, Josh Lindeman, Gabe, Hannah, Kalie & Kaleb Eckerson and Megan (Caleb) Wede; one brother, David (Diane) Havens, Cottage Grove; and a sister, Elaine Frerichs, Wildwood, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle on April 2, 2005; daughter, Tami in 2002; two granddaughters, Angela Eckerson and Brittany Jo Cavanaugh; brothers, Phillip Havens & Neil Havens; and an infant sister, Mary Ruth.
Funeral service will be 11 am Friday, Feb. 18, at Solid Rock Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Scott Peterson. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.
Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, is in charge of arrangements.
