Bernard “Bud” Clark, age 90, of Luverne, MN, peacefully passed away after a short struggle with pneumonia on August 14, 2020, at Ava’s House Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born in Mitchell, SD to Tom and Mamie Clark on January 16, 1930. He was raised on the family farm in Plankinton, SD.
Bud was united in marriage to Tillie Vogel on May 12, 1953, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen, SD. Their union was blessed with seven children. The family farmed in the Plankinton/White Lake area before moving to Luverne, MN in 1967. Bud worked at Land-O-Lakes for over twenty years. During that time, he started Clark’s Spraying business and continued working at Land-O-Lakes for many years. He modeled his work ethic, determination and desire to provide for his family by holding down both jobs for over fifteen years.
He was an active member of St. Catherine Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Bud enjoyed watching the Vikings, playing cards and meeting his friends at McDonalds to solve the world’s problems. He especially looked forward to spending time with his kids and grandkids and giving them his special foot rubs.
Bud had natural curiosity to learn. He had a gift of connecting with people by listening and learning from them. In conversations, he was present and attentive. Bud was a humble man with a big heart. He had a passion for staying young and healthy. He was intrigued by motivational/self-help books, exercise equipment, vitamins and other gimmicks to aid him in his search for the fountain of youth.
