Bill Haken Obituary

BILL HAKEN, age 97, of Worthington, died Saturday, April 23, 2022, at his home in Worthington.  He was born April 12, 1925, in rural nobles county, to John and Trientje (Jacobs) Haaken.  He worked on the family farm and attended school in Nobles County while he was growing up.
He married Betty Lou Wynia on September 1, 1951, in Slayton.  They farmed north of Fulda for many years.  They moved to Worthington in 1969 where they lived the remainder of their married lives.  Bill worked for Campbell Soup Co. for over twenty years before he retired in 1990.  Betty Lou died in 1992.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, bow hunting, and trips to Canada.  He would blow snow for many people in town and made sure any neighbor kid that needed a bike, had one.  He also enjoyed collecting hats, ink pens, and feeding any stray cat that would show up at his door.
He is survived by his four children, Lonnie Haken, Worthington; Debra Murrian, Mankato; Mike (Linda) Haken, Mission Viejo, CA; Rhonda (Steve) Becker, Heron Lake; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Lou; two sisters; and nine brothers.
