BONNIE LEA HOKENESS, age 81, of Adrian, died Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at the Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Home in Luverne. She was born November 23, 1938, in Hendricks, to Eugene and Evelyn (Anderson) Sandro. Bonnie was baptized and confirmed in the Singsaas Lutheran Church in Hendricks. She attended school in Oak Lake Dist. #63; and graduated from Hendricks High School, in 1956, where she excelled in the high school choir.
Bonnie married Raymond Hokeness Jr. on June 9, 1956, at the Singsaas Lutheran Church in Hendricks. After Ray finished his Army basic training, the couple moved to Olympia, WA where he served in the Army; and Bonnie worked as a keypunch operator at the WA state capital in Olympia. She became a homemaker after she had children. In 1958, they moved to the farm near Adrian. Bonnie became a resident of the Adrian Country Living Cottage in September of 2018.
She was a member of the Adrian United Methodist Church where she helped put together the newsletter. Bonnie enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking, reading, crafts, playing piano, puzzles, card group, designing and sewing clothes and her Red Hat Ladies. She also spent countless hours knitting, crocheting, making afghans for graduations and great-grandchildren’s births.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Ray Hokeness, Adrian; four children, Dave (Cindy) Hokeness, Rushmore; Deb (Dan) Konz, Brandon, SD; Dan (Carmen) Hokeness, Victoria; and Dona (Kim) Daniels, Tracy; nine grandchildren, Brian (fiancée, Sarah) Hokeness, Brent Hokeness, Rachelle (Tyler) Strom, Ryan (Pam) Konz, Roxanne (special friend, Chad) Konz, Kyle (Rachel) Hokeness, Danielle (Mark) Nettesheim, Lindsey (Justin) Tommeraasen and Ashley (fiancé, Brad) Daniels; eleven great-grandchildren, Elliott, Natalie, Miles, Lauren, Lucas, Josie, Everett, Mark, Luke, James and Blake; two sisters, Nona (Gordy) Siverson, Milan; and Linda (Fred) Gillam, San Jose, CA; and many in-laws, Orville (Midge) Hokeness, Lois (Ron Priest) Moeller, Gene Dike, Irma (Larry) Preuss, Jack (Jane) Hokeness and Karen Medlin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Diane in 1961; and in-laws, Jim Moeller, Avis Dike and Tom Medlin.
