CAROLD GENE WAHL, age 84, of rural Round Lake, died Friday, February 15, 2019, at his home. He was born October 20, 1934, in rural Jackson County, to John and Opal (Hall) Wahl. Carold was active in 4-H for over eleven years, showing beef cattle. When he was younger, he enjoyed going to Livestock Auctions with his father. Carold attended Jackson Country School #41.
Carold married Susan Rol on December 2, 1967 at the Round Lake Presbyterian Church, and they moved to their farm in Round Lake Township. The couple farmed, raising hogs and cattle until they retired in 2003, while continuing to live on the farm.
He enjoyed farming especially feeding cattle, John Deere machinery and traveling to their home in Mesa, AZ. He liked to visit with people. He would say “Everyone has a story, you just have to listen!”
Carold is survived by his three sisters, Irene (Windell) Davidson, Rawlins, WY; Iris (Wayne) Fischer, Naperville, IL; and Ilene (Jerald) Clark, rural Lakefield; nine nieces & nephews, several cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Susan Wahl on May 12, 2013; and a brother, John L. Wahl.
Funeral will be 11 am Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, officiated by Vern Behrends. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday. Burial will be after the reception at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake, IA.
