CARROLL TAYLOR, age 96, formerly of Adrian, died Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. He was born September 29, 1925 in Adrian, to Bryan & Carolyn (Kraphl) Taylor. He attended country school in rural Westside Township, and graduated from St Adrian Catholic High School in 1943. Carroll later attended the University of MN. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1952.
Carroll married Shirley Poppen on May 10, 1955 at St Adrian Catholic Church. The couple farmed before moving to Adrian in 1965. They later divorced. Carroll worked with his five brothers for Taylor Corp. for over twenty years. He then worked for MoorMan’s Feed Company for 25 years, before retiring in 1987.
Carroll married Lorraine Stadler in 1994. They had a fantastic 7 years together before Lorraine passed away in 2001.
He was a member of St Adrian Catholic Church; the St Adrian choir for over 50 years; the St Adrian Knight of Columbus; the Adrian Lions; the Adrian American Legion; the Luverne VFW; and was active in baseball & softball in the Adrian area for over twenty five years.
Carroll is survived by three sons, Jeff (Jane), Plymouth; Mark (Mary), Orono; Scott (Margo), West St Paul; four grandchildren, Jacqui, Chris, Alicia, & Hallie; one great grandchild, Brooklyn; one brother, Gene (Marva), Adrian; two sisters in law, Evelyn, Worthington; Maryann, Mason City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Jerry, Earl, Jim, Bill, Paul, Fr Robert, Bryan; one sister, Sr Brian; & 4 sisters in law; Lucille, Joan, Dee, & Bev.
On Tuesday October 19th after Dee Taylor’s funeral Mass & burial, there will be a noon meal in the church basement in honor of Dee & Carroll, followed by an “Irish Wake” from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at the Countryside Inn in Adrian. Burial of cremains, with full military honors, will be at a later date at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life open house will be held on Thursday, October 28th from 5 to 8 pm at Brookview Golf Course – 316 Brookview Pkwy S in Golden Valley, MN.
