Daryl Robert Harberts

     DARYL ROBERT HARBERTS, Age 84, of Rushmore, died Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington. He was born July 4, 1938, in rural Rushmore, to Hajo and Augusta (Harms) Harberts.

   Daryl married Joyce Alberts on September 4, 1959, at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, south of Rushmore. After their marriage, the couple lived in Sibley, IA. Daryl worked at Arba’s Service in Rushmore. In 1961, they moved to Rushmore. After a short time, Daryl bought Arba’s Service which became Daryl’s Service.

   He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Rushmore, where he served on the church council, the Rushmore Volunteer Fire Department, the Rushmore City Council and the Rushmore Booster Club. He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling and attending auctions.

   Daryl is survived by his wife of sixty three years, Joyce Harberts, Rushmore; three children, Denise Cook, Everly, IA; Kevin (Traci) Harberts, Adrian; and Gregg (Amy) Harberts, Rushmore; grandchildren, Matthew (Mandy) Nemmers, Ryan Nemmers & Brandon Hansen, and Morgan (Cody) Ober; bonus grandchildren, Tyller Kracht, Marissa (Josh) Mouw and Trenton Kracht; great-grandchildren, Skylar Nemmers, Mazie Appeldorn, Anna Faye Ober and Sutton Ober; bonus great-grandchildren, Wyatte, Wesley & Willo Kracht; Collin, Aubrey & Grace Mouw; and Breya Kracht; two brothers, Virgil Harberts, Kent, WA; and Dennis (Darlene) Harberts, Stevensville, MT; a sister, Eunice (Harlan) Heidebrink, Sioux Falls, SD; and three sisters-in-law, Virginia Harberts, Worthington; Lois Harberts, Rushmore; and Jenny Harberts, Missoula, MT. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Kevin Cook on December 31, 2020; and three brothers, Harold, Myron and Roger Harberts.

   Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 pm at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Friday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor David McDonald. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Rushmore.
