Delia Oberloh Obituary

   Delia Olive Oberloh passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 27, 2021 under hospice care at the Ecumen Meadows, Worthington MN.
   Delia was born July 10, 1933, in rural Fulda MN, to William & Olive Leighton Gerdes. After her mother's passing, Delia left school to run the household for her father and brothers. She also did outside babysitting and housework. Delia married Ervin Oberloh on Nov 30, 1952 at Immanuel American Lutheran Church rural Fulda MN. They lived in Worthington and a short time in Mason City IA. She was baptized and confirmed Oct 18, 1953 at St James Lutheran Church Mason City IA. In 1959 they moved to Reading MN where they raised their seven children. In her adult years Delia received her Driver's License, earned her GED Diploma and learned how to swim. In 1977 they moved back to Worthington. Delia worked for Campbell Soup Company for 30 years, retiring in Dec 1992.
   After retiring Delia did volunteer work for Worthington Hospital Auxiliary, R.S.V.P., VFW Auxiliary, Eagles Club, Pioneer Village, and Retired Saints & Quilters at American Lutheran Church in Worthington, where she was a member. Some of her pleasures in retirement were Red Hat Ladies, bowling, playing cards and walking. In her retirement Delia spent winters in Pharr TX with her special friend Ed Jueneman.
   She is lovingly remembered by her children and families; Walter (In) Oberloh, Florissant MO, Alan (Janice) Oberloh, Worthington MN, Dennis (Theresa) Oberloh, Redwood Falls MN, Sheryl (Merlin) Goebel, Hartford SD, Keith Oberloh, Madelia MN, Lyle Oberloh, Brewster MN, 19 grandchildren, Laura (Matt) Stewart, Jamie (Sarah) Oberloh, Marie Yi Oberloh, Joshua (Brenda) Oberloh, Annie (Andrew) Rasche, Jesse (Kari) Oberloh, Sara (Matt) Beavers, Amy (Ryan) Singh, Ryan (Leslie) Ponto, Lael Pierret, Kyla (Richard) Griebel, Jared (Jenny Stangeland) Goebel, Travis (Lesli) Goebel, Casie (Skip Steinhoff) Goebel, Adam Oberloh, Tiffany Oberloh, Travis Oberloh, Heather Oberloh and Corey Oberloh, and 25 great grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ervin Oberloh, daughter Debra Freking, daughter in law Joan Oberloh, brothers Russell, Fred, Glenn and Neil Gerdes and special friend Ed Jueneman.
   The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to Ecumen Meadows of Worthington's entire staff for their professionalism, thoughtfulness, and support. A special thanks to the staff in Memory Care for the love and care they gave our mother and to the Hospice nurses, caregivers, and volunteers.
   Memorials will be directed to American Lutheran Church in Worthington & Sunset Hospice Cottage of Worthington.

 

   A time of fellowship will be Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Memorial service will be 11 am Thursday at American Lutheran Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Anne Hokenstad. A private burial will precede the service.

   Memorials will be directed the American Lutheran Church, in Worthington, or the Worthington Hospice Cottage.
